[How To] Add Spacing Between Cells in MS Word Tables

Spacing gives a table some space to breath. Words and figures stand out more. Without it, data can get very cluttered and hard to read as it all appears to be cramped together.

To add spacing between cells, follow these steps:

  1. Select the table.
  2. Click Table Properties and then select the Options button.
  3. Click the Allow spacing between cells checkbox.  adding-spacing-between-cells.JPG
  4. Enter the amount of space you want between the cells.
  5. Click OK.

If you want to make the table’s border invisible, select the table, and then Border and Shading box. In the Border’s tab, click None. This makes the table’s border invisible when you print out the document.
